About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Senior Engineer to join a growing fire and security engineering team. This is a key technical role where you will support, coach and develop the Service Engineering team while maintaining a strong hands-on technical presence. You will play a vital role in ensuring fire and life safety systems are fully compliant, reliable and optimised - directly contributing to the safety, confidence and continuity of clients' people and businesses. This position suits an experienced engineer who enjoys leading by example, supporting others technically, and being recognised as a senior technical authority within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out minor remedial and fault rectification works during PPM visits, supported by the appropriate call numbers, worksheets and client instructions.
- Conduct monthly engineer audits, reporting findings to the Service Supervisor (including logbooks, worksheet quality and compliance).
- Provide technical support to colleagues, both remotely and through site attendance when required.
- Act as a role model within the engineering team, setting standards for technical excellence, professionalism and documentation quality.
- Support, mentor and develop trainee engineers, reporting progress or areas of concern to the Service Supervisor.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for additional works and feeding leads and survey information back to the sales team.
- Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Security, Environmental and Technical policies.
- Maintain engineering best practices, escalating any inconsistencies to senior engineering management.
- Attend and contribute to engineer meetings when required.
- Attend manufacturer and internal training courses to broaden product knowledge and technical capability.
Skills & Experience Required
We are looking for a technically strong engineer with a customer-focused mindset. Ideally, you will bring:
- Excellent servicing, diagnostic and fault-finding skills, with the ability to resolve issues through logical elimination and technical recommendations.
- Specialist experience across a broad and advanced range of systems, including software configuration and programming.
- Fire systems experience such as: Edwards EST3, Siemens Cerberus Pro, Notifier, GENT.
- VA/PA & EVACS systems: Baldwin Boxall, Honeywell, TOA, Cameo, Siemens.
- Suppression systems experience: Inert, FM200, Water Mist, RIT.
- Security systems exposure: IP Networks, CCTV, Access Control.
- A well-rounded engineering background with recognised qualifications and at least 2 years' experience operating at a senior technical level.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
If you don't tick every box but have strong technical foundations and a willingness to learn, you are still encouraged to apply. If you're a Senior Engineer looking to progress your career within a supportive, technically focused environment, this is an excellent opportunity to take the next step. Apply today.
