We are seeking an experienced Installation Project Engineer with a strong electrical background to join our team, supporting the delivery and commissioning of capital equipment used in product identification and verification. This role is ideal for an engineer who has worked with complex machinery and enjoys hands‑on installation, configuration, and system integration work.
The Role
Working across customer sites along the M62 corridor and UK-wide, you will be responsible for the installation, setup, and commissioning of equipment including:
- Label verification systems
- Coding equipment
- Vision inspection systems
- Machinery operating on 140V single and 3‑phase power
The work will involve regular travel and periods away from home. Typically this is completed in blocks of a week at a time, and averages around 30% of the year.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and commissioning of automation and verification machinery
- Electrical wiring, testing, configuration, and fault‑finding
- Working with conveyors and associated mechanical systems
- Configuration and integration of systems including PLCs, HMIs, VPNs, inputs/outputs, sensors, motors, and networks
- Setup of Ethernet connections, IP addresses, and software tools
- Providing on‑site support, troubleshooting, and training for customers
About You
- Strong electrical engineering background
- A formal qualification such as an apprenticeship or degree is preferred
- Experience working with capital equipment and conveyor‑based machinery
- Confident working with industrial networking and software‑driven systems
- Comfortable with UK travel and regular time away from home
- Open to applicants from both static and mobile engineering backgrounds, provided you are happy to travel
