A new opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Audio Visual Installation Engineer to join a growing organisation operating across the UK. This is a hands-on, field-based position working on a wide variety of commercial projects, including high-profile venues and dynamic installations across education, corporate and construction sectors. The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical background, leadership capability, and a proactive, “can-do” mindset. Prior experience as an Audio Visual Installation Engineer is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support installation teams on client sites
- Preparation of equipment ahead of deployment
- Installation of cabling and containment systems to industry standards
- Mounting, connecting and commissioning audio-visual, specialist lighting and control equipment
- Troubleshooting, testing and sign-off of AV systems
- Demonstrating equipment to clients and ensuring technical compliance
- Assisting other departments with technical queries
- Attending project meetings and contributing to planning
- Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
- Maintaining accurate records via a cloud-based job management system
- Interpreting technical drawings, schematics and rack layouts
Required Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience in an AV installation role
- Commercial installation experience including construction site environments
- Strong knowledge of digital and analogue audio/video signal flow and routing
- Ability to plan, install and commission video distribution systems (HDCP, EDID, resolution/scaling, latency etc.)
- Confident with control protocols such as RS232/485, IR and TCP/IP
- Understanding of AV over IP technologies (Dante, VoIP etc.)
- Good working knowledge of IP networking principles (VLANs, IP addressing, multicast/unicast, IGMP)
- Experience with commercial TV distribution systems (IRS / IPTV)
- Competent terminating connectors including VGA, BNC, F-type, RCA, XLR, Jack, RJ45
- Experience building and commissioning equipment racks
- Ability to produce RAMS and work safely at height
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise work effectively
