The BMS (Building Management System) Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates for BMS projects, including HVAC controls, energy management solutions, and smart building technologies. This role involves analysing project requirements, interpreting technical drawings, liaising with suppliers, and providing competitive and profitable pricing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review project specifications, drawings, and requirements to develop accurate cost estimates for BMS projects.
- Analyse material, labour, and subcontractor costs to ensure competitive and profitable pricing.
- Communicate with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain quotations for BMS components and associated hardware.
- Assess technical feasibility, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements.
- Prepare and present detailed estimation reports and proposals to internal teams and clients.
- Work closely with sales, design, and project management teams to refine estimates and optimize project value.
- Identify potential risks and challenges in project costs and propose mitigation strategies.
- Keep up to date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in BMS estimation and cost control.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in estimating BMS, HVAC controls, or automation systems.
- Strong understanding of BMS components, sensors, controllers, and integration with building services.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Experience with estimation software and tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Trimble, or similar).
- Knowledge of industry standards such as BACnet, Modbus, and KNX protocols.
- Strong negotiation skills and experience in supplier engagement.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Effective communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

- Experience in project estimation within construction or MEP sectors.
