We are seeking a Field Technician / Site Operative / Driller to support environmental and geotechnical site investigations. This is a hands on outdoor role involving drilling operations, sample collection, site monitoring, equipment maintenance, and health and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, organize, and pack equipment required for daily site work
- Assist with the operation of a tracked windowless sampling drilling rig, initially as an Assistant Driller with progression opportunities to Lead Driller
- Operate and assist with mini‑excavators, breakers, and other site equipment
- Collect soil samples for laboratory testing and analysis
- Conduct groundwater and ground gas monitoring activities
- Record field data accurately, including borehole logs, site notes, and site investigation photographs
Equipment & Vehicle Maintenance
- Clean, maintain, and inspect drilling rigs and associated equipment to ensure operational readiness
- Maintain and organize storage units, including inventory management of equipment and material
- Maintain company vehicles to a high standard of cleanliness and functionality
Health & Safety
- Follow all site health and safety procedures
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards
Preferred Experience
- Previous experience supporting environmental, geotechnical, or ground investigation projects is preferred but not essential
- Experience operating drilling equipment, excavators, or construction equipment is an advantage
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid driver's license required due to regular operation of company vehicles
- Ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor fieldwork, including handling equipment and working in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working outdoors and traveling to field sites as required
- Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and team‑oriented mindset
- Willingness to travel occasionally and stay overnight away from home when required
