The technical manager is expected to lead technical operations and strategy by maintaining high internal performance standards while proactively engaging with external stakeholders, market trends, and customer needs to drive continuous improvement and competitive advantage.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Plant Manager in making technical decisions and support projects throughout its lifecycle.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the technical team to ensure high performance and capability growth.
  • Own and continuously improve internal processes, systems, and technical standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage budgets, resources, and project delivery within agreed constraints.
  • Drive root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain asset reliability, maintenance strategies, and technical documentation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally (production, quality, supply chain) to optimise operations.
  • Act as a technical interface with customers, suppliers, and external partners.
  • Understand customer requirements and translate them into technical deliverables.
  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activity.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation, cost reduction, and performance enhancement.
  • Support business development, bids, and technical proposals.
  • Represent the organisation in audits, client meetings, and technical reviews.
  • Build strategic partnerships with suppliers and technology providers.

Qualification:

  • Degree or equivalent in Engineering / Technical discipline.
  • Proven experience in technical leadership or engineering management.
  • Experience working with customers or external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and best practices.

Skills:

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and under your own initiative.
  • Problem solving skills, analytical skills and the ability to make decisions quickly.
