Senior Fleet Operations Manager

Location: Greater Glasgow

A leading UK-based last-mile logistics services business is seeking a results-driven Fleet Operations Manager to lead its nationwide vehicle fleet operations. This pivotal role oversees the management, optimisation, and strategic development of a 400-vehicle fleet across c. 20 depots, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and develop a national fleet team to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations.
  • Ensure all vehicles meet legal, regulatory, and internal safety standards.
  • Develop and improve supplier management, ensuring the best relationship for the greatest value.
  • Take ownership of fleet policy, vehicle procurement strategy, service schedules, and telematics utilisation.
  • Proactively identify and implement fleet process improvements to drive down operating costs and reduce downtime.
  • Champion continuous improvement, innovation, and sustainability across fleet operations.


Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Proven track record managing large fleets or operations in a fast-paced, multi-site, industrial or logistics environment.
  • Strong leadership and team development capabilities, with experience overseeing remote or distributed teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and improve fleet performance metrics, including compliance and cost-efficiency.
  • Experienced in implementing systems, telematics, and continuous improvement processes across operations.
