A leading provider of innovative laser systems to help people in various global markets, including but not limited to renewables, microelectronics, research, life science, automotive, and medicine.

We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to be an experienced, enthusiastic and approachablelaser expert. Someone who can enhance the successful introduction, transfer and ramping of new products in Production. Someone who can take the support on solving laser issues in Production and can contribute to the successful resolution of complex problems with lasers returned from or still in the field.

You will work in the Manufacturing Engineering Team and interface with Production, R&D, Quality and Service.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with production staff on build procedures, laser alignment techniques and best practices and tooling use.
  • Troubleshooting laser and amplifier performance issues, including electronics, cooling and tooling issues seen in Production.
  • Troubleshooting system issues on field returned units and care case lasers operating in the field.
  • Providing technical laser expertise and support to the Production team.
  • Providing technical laser expertise and support to the Service team.
  • Hands-on identification and resolution of complex laser system performance issues either independently or in collaboration with R&D as required for each issue.
  • Driving the Problem Solving and Root Cause Analysis process for Production issues. Creating and maintaining A3 reports for the Production, R&D, and Quality teams.
  • Maintaining troubleshooting guides.
  • Generating corrective actions for yourself, Production, Manufacturing Engineering and R&D teams.
  • First Article Inspection and testing of proposed new parts before introduction to Production.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Physics, Photonics, Engineering, or in a related discipline
  • Hands-on experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting laser systems in a research, development, or laboratory environment.
  • A solid understanding of laser physics and the terminology used to characterize laser performance.
  • Strong, demonstrable practical problem-solving experience is required.
