Credit Control Manager is responsible for the collection of overdue debts in a timely and professional manner, oversee the day-to-day operations of the credit control function, manage a team of credit controllers, and ensure the efficient collection of outstanding debts.

They will also look at improving working capital efficiency and minimising credit risk through the effective monitoring and assessment of customer accounts and their creditworthiness.

Also play a key role in developing and implementing credit control policies and ensuring the financial health of the business,

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead and develop the credit control team across Spain and Italy, setting clear performance expectations and ensuring continuous training on regional credit practices.
  • Strategy & Policy Development: Implement credit control strategies aligned with Southern European commercial norms and the EU Late Payment Directive.
  • Account Supervision: Oversee customer accounts in Spain (S. A./S. L.) and Italy (S. r. l./S. p. A.), directly managing high-value or complex cross-border accounts.

Formalities: Drive timely collections and formal escalations, utilizing local statutory demand notices (Burofax in Spain; PEC / Raccomandata A/R in Italy) and structured payment plans (piani di rientro).

Management: Oversee credit reviews and risk mitigation, leveraging local intelligence registries (Informa D&B in Spain, Cerved in Italy) and official filings (Registro Mercantil / Camera di Commercio).

Instruments: Optimize cash collection while actively managing regional payment methods (SEPA Direct Debits, Pagarés in Spain, and Ri.

Ba. in Italy) to reduce return rates.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & E-Invoicing: Partner with Sales and Invoicing teams to resolve billing disputes and handle immediate rejections within mandatory e-invoicing systems (FACe / Veri Factu in Spain, SDI in Italy).

Provisioning: Provide regular aging analysis and manage bad debt provisions in line with local accounting standards (PGC / OIC) and IFRS 9, including VAT recovery on written-off debts.

Support: Ensure accurate month-end ledger closing and provide necessary documentation for local tax authority audits (AEAT in Spain, Agenzia delle Entrate in Italy).

  • Legal Escalations & Compliance: Direct legal recovery through fast-track regional court processes (Proceso Monitorio in Spain; Decreto Ingiuntivo in Italy) while ensuring full GDPR compliance.

We're looking for an experienced Credit Control Manager or Senior Credit Controller who is fluent in English and either Spanish or Italian.
