We are currently seeking an experienced Technical Manager to join a dynamic SME organisation, part of a larger group of companies, offering a range of services across Rail, Highways, and the Built Environment. This company is renowned for its expertise in structural inspection and difficult access solutions, with a strong portfolio of high-profile projects across the UK.
As the Technical Manager, reporting to the Head of Inspection & Maintenance, this role will provide technical expertise to support business activities, particularly in inspection, materials testing, and maintenance, often requiring difficult access techniques.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing, estimating, and submitting tenders
- Ensuring technical competence within the team
- Maintaining quality standards
- Developing training programs
- Supporting audits and achieving accreditations
- Acting as the technical focal point for staff and senior management
- Providing engineering recommendations for asset stability
- Identifying and mitigating technical risks and inefficiencies
- Contributing to tender writing, pricing, and submission
- Supporting external audits and accreditation processes
- Mentoring team members and assisting in their professional development
Requirements:
- 10+ years’ experience in Highways or Rail sectors
- Knowledge of Network Rail or Highways Standards
- NEBOSH certificate and previous senior management experience
- Experience in asset management, ISO standards, and audit processes
- Familiarity with Rail/Highways structures condition indices
- Competence in training program development and delivery
- Network Rail STE competencies
