A leading provider of innovative laser systems serving global markets such as renewables, microelectronics, research, life sciences, automotive, and medical sectors. We are looking for an enthusiastic Buyer to join our Purchasing team on a 15 month contract. This role sits within the wider Materials team and reports to the Purchasing Manager. You will support day to day purchasing activities and help ensure materials are delivered on time to support production and projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Run daily reports and raise purchase orders
- Manage purchase requests, quotes, and supplier communication
- Monitor stock levels and flag any shortages
- Track deliveries and ensure materials arrive on time
- Send demand forecasts to suppliers
- Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers
- Support resolving delivery or quality issues with suppliers and QA
- Assist with supplier performance tracking and reporting
- Help onboard new suppliers following internal processes
- Maintain accurate data in procurement systems (e.g. Oracle)
- Support Kanban and inventory management activities
- Assist with cost analysis and basic planning
Requirements
- Experience in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or similar
- Strong Excel skills (comfortable working with data and reports)
- Experience with MRP systems (Oracle is a plus)
- Good communication skills when dealing with suppliers
- Organised and able to manage multiple tasks
- Manufacturing or production environment experience is helpful but not essential
