Solutions & Decisions is looking for the best candidates for an Operations Manager at MAMMAFIORE, an Italian food & beverage distribution company, for North West London.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operational Management: Oversee and optimize day-to-day activities, including procurement, warehousing, logistics, and distribution. Ensure timely deliveries and adherence to quality standards in customer service. Lead cost stewardship across warehousing, transportation, and intralogistics, driving a sustained reduction in cost-to-serve while protecting service levels. Champion end-to-end digitalisation (WMS, ERP, handheld scanning, EDI/TMS, Power BI dashboards) to ensure real-time visibility, data integrity, and decision speed. Establish FEFO discipline and slotting/ABC-XYZ practices to improve picking productivity, inventory turns, and waste reduction.
  • Logistics and Supply Chain: Coordinate suppliers and procurement operations to ensure product availability and optimal inventory management. Implement innovative solutions for logistics management, reducing costs and empty miles, fleet right-sizing, response times, cross-dock rhythms and transfer loads. Ensure cold-chain integrity across ambient/chilled/frozen with proactive temperature monitoring, traceability, and recall readiness.
  • Recruitment and Team Management: Lead recruitment processes, including drivers and warehouse operatives. Supervise and coordinate operational teams (warehouse staff, drivers, log. managers). Plan work schedules and optimize human resources to ensure maximum efficiency. Foster a company culture focused on quality, safety, and teamwork. Institutionalise Continuous Improvement (Lean basics, Gemba walks, Kaizen).
  • Performance Monitoring and KPIs: Analyze and track key operational KPIs (e.g., OTIF, pick accuracy, waste/shrink, inventory accuracy, dock-to-stock, labour productivity, and cost-to-serve). Act as system process owner for WMS/ERP in the UK: clean master data, standardised SOPs, and user training; partner with HQ on enhancements. Build operational reports and automated dashboards (Power BI) for real-time control-towers (service, cost, quality), including early-warning alerts on exceptions. Implement procedures to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards. Align UK operations with Group strategy (“One Mammafiore Way”).
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with hygiene and sanitation regulations applicable to food products. Implement workplace safety measures, minimizing risks and incidents. Conduct regular internal audits to verify compliance with company policies.
  • Innovation and Sustainability Projects: Collaborate to introduce new technologies or processes aimed at improving productivity. Promote sustainability initiatives (ie. waste reduction or use of eco-friendly materials).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience: At least 5-7 years in operational or managerial roles, preferably in food distribution or logistics.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of supply chain processes, warehouse management, and distribution logistics. Proficiency in Advanced Excel, Power BI, ERP, WMS/TMS (RF, GS1/SSCC, wave/zone, FEFO/lot), route optimisation/telematics (ePOD/e-CMR), and EDI/API integrations.
  • Education: Degree in industrial engineering, logistics, economics, or related fields (preferred).
  • Languages: Fluent English (mandatory); Highly valued to have Italian; Spanish is a nice-to-have for cross-country collaboration with Central teams.
  • Personal Skills: Problem-solving and results-oriented approach. Leadership: Coordinate operational teams and foster a positive work environment. Strong data-driven approach to monitor and improve operational performance. Adaptability to a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
