Maintenance Assistant
This is a key position within our organization, requiring a friendly and professional team-oriented individual. The role involves comprehensive site maintenance and close collaboration with the Head of Maintenance, Head of Facilities, Bursar, and other Estate team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Report to and liaise with the Head of Maintenance regarding all estate maintenance and administrative issues, including but not limited to:
- Building and site repairs
- Health and safety compliance
- Fire risk analysis and compliance
- Security
- Plumbing
- COSHH regulations
- General maintenance
- School logistics
- Assist with preventative maintenance, review and negotiate with subcontractors, coordinate repairs, and perform compliance tests under supervision.
- Order parts, chemicals, and stock in accordance with the school budget and purchasing procedures, monitoring maintenance expenditure within approved limits.
Safety and Maintenance Checks
- Conduct weekly Legionella flushes
- Monthly checks for carbon monoxide, window safety, blind cleats, smoke alarm batteries, fire extinguishers, and fire blankets
- Weekly equipment safety checks, including door closures, ladders, playground equipment, and workshop facilities
Additional Duties
- Assist groundskeeper with gardening, grounds maintenance, mowing, and pitch marking as directed.
- Perform carpentry, painting & decorating, plumbing, minor electrical work, and maintain locks and keys.
- Participate in an out-of-hours rota for duty phone coverage.
Work Schedule and Compensation
This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility for school events. Overtime is paid, with a salary range of GBP 28,000 to GBP 30,000 depending on experience.
