Head of Compliance & MLRO β FinTech / Payments

We are supporting an ambitious London-based fintech in the appointment of an experienced Head of Compliance & MLRO.
This is a key senior leadership position for an established compliance professional with strong experience within payments, fintech and card schemes, who can take ownership of the compliance and financial crime framework while working closely with senior leadership and the FCA.
Key Responsibilities
β’ Lead and oversee the Compliance and AML/CTF functions
β’ Act as the firm's Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO)
β’ Develop and maintain the firm's compliance policies, procedures, monitoring and control framework
β’ Provide regulatory guidance across card schemes, acquiring, issuing, IBANs/payment accounts and related payment products
β’ Lead compliance and financial crime risk assessments and ensure appropriate controls are maintained
β’ Oversee regulatory reporting and relevant FCA submissions
β’ Maintain effective engagement with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and other relevant regulatory stakeholders
β’ Conduct compliance reviews and support internal audit and assurance activities
β’ Monitor regulatory developments and ensure the firm's framework remains appropriate as the business grows
β’ Provide guidance and training across the organisation and promote a strong compliance culture
β’ Work closely with senior management and relevant business functions on regulatory and strategic matters
What We're Looking For
β’ 7+ years' experience in compliance within financial services, payments or fintech
β’ Previous experience operating as a Head of Compliance, MLRO, Deputy MLRO or equivalent senior compliance leader within a regulated financial services organisation
β’ Strong practical knowledge of card schemes and the payments ecosystem
β’ Experience across issuing and/or acquiring
β’ Strong understanding of UK AML/CTF and financial services regulation
β’ Demonstrable experience engaging directly with the FCA
β’ Experience developing and maintaining compliance frameworks within a regulated environment
β’ Strong leadership, judgement and stakeholder-management skills
β’ Ability to operate effectively within a growing and fast-paced fintech environment
Highly Desirable
β’ Experience within an FCA-regulated EMI, Payment Institution, fintech, acquirer or issuer
β’ ICA qualification or equivalent compliance/financial crime qualification
β’ Knowledge of payment accounts, IBANs and wider payment products
