The Data Centre LV Appointed Person is responsible for ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and management of low voltage electrical systems within a critical data centre environment. The role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, issuing permits to work, and leading electrical safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the LV Appointed Person for the data centre, ensuring adherence to all electrical safety rules and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and maintain LV electrical safety policies and procedures.
- Oversee and manage planned and reactive maintenance of LV electrical systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Carry out switching operations, isolations, and issue permits to work in line with company safety procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for electrical work.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, including BS7671 and other regulatory requirements.
- Lead on incident investigations and root cause analysis for electrical faults or failures.
- Liaise with contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with site safety procedures.

- Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
- Recognized Low Voltage Authorisation/Appointment.
- High Voltage (HV) awareness is desirable.
- Proven experience working as an LV Appointed Person in a data centre or critical environment.
- Strong background in electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis.
- Experience issuing permits to work and conducting switching operations.
- Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, distribution, and safety regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
