The Data Centre LV Appointed Person is responsible for ensuring the safe operation, maintenance, and management of low voltage electrical systems within a critical data centre environment. The role involves ensuring compliance with all relevant safety regulations, conducting risk assessments, issuing permits to work, and leading electrical safety initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the LV Appointed Person for the data centre, ensuring adherence to all electrical safety rules and procedures.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain LV electrical safety policies and procedures.
  • Oversee and manage planned and reactive maintenance of LV electrical systems, ensuring minimal downtime.
  • Carry out switching operations, isolations, and issue permits to work in line with company safety procedures.
  • Conduct risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for electrical work.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant industry standards, including BS7671 and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead on incident investigations and root cause analysis for electrical faults or failures.
  • Liaise with contractors and service providers to ensure compliance with site safety procedures.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications:
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Engineering.
  • City & Guilds 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
  • Recognized Low Voltage Authorisation/Appointment.
  • High Voltage (HV) awareness is desirable.
  • Experience:
    • Proven experience working as an LV Appointed Person in a data centre or critical environment.
    • Strong background in electrical maintenance and fault diagnosis.
    • Experience issuing permits to work and conducting switching operations.
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong knowledge of LV electrical systems, distribution, and safety regulations.
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
