I’m working with an excellent client that require a Quantity Surveyor to work within their Rail & Civil Engineering, Asset Management team.
They’re looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team within a fast-paced rail, civil engineering, and buildings asset management environment, based in Tamworth. This role is a part of the CP7 framework, with a focus on the North West & Central region.
This business unit operates in an active and fast-moving rail, civils, and buildings asset maintenance, management landscape. They manage both reactive and planned maintenance projects across the North West & Central rail network. Their offices in Warrington and Tamworth serve as the headquarters for our operations, where they undertake various types of projects, including the maintenance and repair of bridges, tunnels, structures, stations, embankments, and more.
Role Responsibilities
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a vital role in the Framework Delivery team, focusing on local rail maintenance initiatives while also supporting other projects in the region. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Collaborating with the commercial team and providing support to Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers in managing multiple sites efficiently and within budget.
- Accurately pricing and submitting estimates on time.
- Resolving pricing queries and issues with clients.
- Engaging in client communication and relationship management.
- Coordinating with Site Managers to gather operational information.
- Managing subcontractors and their performance.
- Overseeing change management processes and early warnings.
- Administering contracts (NEC/NR forms).
- Preparing and reviewing Cost Value Reports (CVRs).
- Contributing to final account processes.
- Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:
- Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within a rail and civil engineering environment.
- Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree).
- Experience with civil engineering projects, including rail, bridges, roads, and structures.
- Familiarity with rail projects (particularly Network Rail projects or maintenance frameworks).
- Strong understanding of contractual management with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract.
- Demonstrated experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within a contractor organisation.
