As the Assistant Project Manager working on a Thames Water contract, you will sit in the Delivery Team and will support the division with the function in the finance field. Below is an outline of your main duties, relevant skills, experience and training needed for the role:

  • Reporting to the client and striving to meet their needs.
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the project and working closely with the Programme Manager / Project Manager.
  • Ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant completion of work under his/her control.
  • Preparing and producing project RAMS.
  • Sharing best practice across all projects and sharing resources where necessary with other workstreams.
  • Driving team performance and encouraging new ideas and innovation.
  • Managing all plant, materials and subcontract resources on site as needed.
  • Reporting to the Programme/Project Manager/Client weekly on the status of the project.
  • Ensuring the requirements of the Job Packs and Team Packs are being followed.
  • Checking training certification and competence.
  • Completing and submitting site audits and closing out actions arising.
  • Completing and submitting Hazard spots.
  • Conducting PPE checks including head protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, gloves, high visibility clothing, and other PPE as required by task.
  • Ensuring jobs meet all environmental standards.
  • Ensuring compliance with NRSWA notices and permit conditions.
  • Checking signing, lighting and guarding to ensure compliance with the NRSWA (red book).
  • Dealing with all customer issues in accordance with the protocol.
  • Day-to-day liaison with the Project Manager regarding complaints & queries.
  • Responding to the Escalations team in accordance with the prescribed timescales.
  • Ensuring compliance with all aspects of the contract standards.
  • Maintaining water quality standards, ensuring pipe ends are sealed, storage of materials, chloros, usage etc.
  • Ensuring the data integrity of all jobs completed including random dip testing of data including but not limited to; serial numbers (bar codes), co-ordinates, photograph quality on route and task stop-starts times etc.
  • Reporting any issues or slippages to their manager regarding production rates.
  • Ensuring all gangs are completing all data fields on the system and posting the required photographs.
  • Collecting, collating and correctly storing all project data and evidence.
  • Managing jeopardy of jobs prioritising those with limited SLA days remaining.
  • Developing and maintaining key reports to monitor and drive performance.
  • Ensuring day-to-day compliance management including problem solving & resolution of issues.
  • Ensuring jobs are health, safety, quality and environmentally compliant in accordance with legislations, procedures and standards.
  • Notifying or escalating any issue or problem encountered to your line manager.
  • Promoting the highest levels of integrity within the business, demonstrating professionalism and upholding the code of conduct at all times.
  • Engaging with Contractors and Highway authorities where needed.

About You:

  • Degree/HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or Construction Management training such as Institute of Leadership and Management Level 5 or equivalent.
  • NEBOSH National Certificate (General or Construction).
  • SMSTS.
  • Water hygiene.
