Head of Commercial – Euston Station

Job Summary:
As the Head of Commercial, you will oversee and manage the estimating, cost, procurement, and contractual aspects of the project from initiation to close-out for Euston Station (HS2) on the joint venture with Mace and Dragados.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Advise the client and project team on all commercial issues affecting the project.
  2. Oversee the development of contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and subcontractors and agree these with the client as necessary.
  3. Develop and implement the procurement and contracting strategy for the delivery of the project.
  4. Review and develop incentivisation arrangements as appropriate.
  5. Agree spend profiles which match the project schedule with the client.
  6. Oversee the reporting against spend profiles for the project on a monthly basis and coordinate with the Client finance department for payments.
  7. Lead the development and maintenance of the Incentive Target for the project.
  8. Oversee the change management process, consult with other functions to assess changes and risks to the overall project out-turn.
  9. Manage the production of a monthly consolidated project-wide cost/expenditure report.
  10. Deliver capex and opex forecasts for the Project.
  11. Oversee the procurement of services relating to the Project and ensure that the supply chain strategy, policy, and procedures are implemented.
  12. Manage the administration of contracts for the implementation of the project.
  13. Oversee the monthly valuation process.
  14. Oversee the development of mitigation plans for potential contractor and supplier claims. Manage the adjudication of claims and make recommendations for settlement.
  15. Oversee the finalisation of contractor’s accounts and close out contractor contracts for the project.
  16. Oversee the Construction Partners applications for payment and Early Warning Notices to the Client.

Technical Competencies:

  1. Expert knowledge of all aspects of commercial management.
  2. Familiarity with various forms of contract.
  3. Excellent knowledge of integrated reporting.

Qualifications, Certifications and Experience:

  1. Experience in a commercial management role.
  2. Past experience of major (£500m+) projects.
  3. Formal qualification RICS or professional experience.
  4. Management of large multifunction teams.
