Are you excited by the opportunity to lead through change, shape culture and bring people together during one of the most significant business integrations in our industry? Solus and Aviva are continuing their growth journey through the integration of Direct Line Group repair locations into our network. As we bring together teams, processes and ways of working across locations throughout the UK, we are looking for an experienced and values‑led Head of Operations to play a key role in delivering a successful integration whilst creating a positive, high‑performing culture where people can thrive.

This is a unique opportunity to lead through transformation, helping to unite two established businesses into one strong operational network across the North of the UK. Beyond the integration programme, this role will continue to play a key part in shaping the future performance, culture and customer experience across our operations. This role has responsibility for operations across the North of the UK and will require regular travel and presence within our repair centres and operational locations.

We are looking for a leader who builds strong relationships, remains connected to colleagues and customers, and is visible across the region. While not involved in the day‑to‑day management of every location, you will provide leadership, direction and support to ensure consistency of performance, culture and customer experience.

Responsibilities

  • As a member of the Solus leadership team, the Head of Operations will provide outstanding leadership across a large, geographically dispersed operation, creating an environment where colleagues feel connected, valued and motivated to perform at their best.
  • You will work closely with colleagues, customers and stakeholders to ensure we continue to deliver outstanding service whilst supporting teams through change with empathy, clarity and purpose.
  • Leading teams across multiple locations, you will maintain a regular presence across the region, building relationships with local leaders, understanding operational challenges and ensuring colleagues remain engaged, informed and connected throughout the integration journey.
  • At Solus, we believe our people are our greatest strength. We are proud of our collaborative culture, our focus on development and our commitment to creating an environment where everyone feels respected, included and empowered to contribute.
  • This role will be instrumental in embedding those values as we welcome new colleagues into the Solus and Aviva family and build a united future together.
  • Success in this role will come from your ability to bring people together, build trust, lead through ambiguity and create an environment where teams feel connected to a shared purpose.
  • You will help shape not only operational performance, but also the culture and leadership standards that will define the next chapter of our journey.
  • Lead the successful operational integration of Direct Line Group locations into the Solus network, ensuring a positive experience for colleagues and customers.
  • Create and sustain a culture where people feel empowered, engaged, supported and proud to contribute.
  • Provide leadership to a large operational team, setting clear direction and expectations whilst encouraging collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Build and maintain highly capable teams through coaching, mentoring and talent development.
  • Champion employee engagement, wellbeing, inclusion and a positive colleague experience across all locations.
  • Maintain a visible presence across sites, building trusted relationships with colleagues and leaders throughout the region.
  • Use insight, data and feedback to challenge assumptions, solve problems and drive positive change.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support business objectives.
  • Deliver operational performance in line with strategic priorities, service expectations and financial measures.
  • Influence and support business planning, helping teams understand and contribute to organisational goals.
  • Work closely with Head Office and operational functions to embed business strategy, best practice and consistent ways of working across the organisation.
  • Support the planning and delivery of future organisational change, growth and transformation initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all governance, regulatory, health and safety and operational requirements.
  • Act as a deputy for the COO when required and represent the business at internal and external forums and events.

  • Data‑driven approach to decision making, with the confidence to challenge assumptions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ability to build effective relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
