You start your day knowing the vehicle in front of you needs careful diagnosis, logical thinking and skilled hands. Nothing is rushed - the priority is getting it right. Whether you're stripping, refitting, fault-finding or checking systems before handover, your work is trusted because it directly affects safety, quality and the customer's confidence when they get their car back.

As a Mechanical, Electrical & Trim (MET) Technician, you'll play a vital role in the repair journey, ensuring vehicles are restored to a safe, fully-functioning and high-quality standard following accident damage.

Responsibilities

In this role, you'll:

  • Strip, repair and refit mechanical, electrical and trim components
  • Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in line with manufacturer methods
  • Re-assemble vehicles accurately, ready for paint and final sign-off
  • Work closely with Panel, Paint and production colleagues to support repair flow
  • Maintain safe, tidy working practices and professional standards

This is a role for people who enjoy problem-solving, variety and responsibility, and who take pride in first-time-right repairs.

Qualifications

What matters is that you bring relevant experience in an automotive repair environment and a structured, safety-focused approach to your work. That experience may include:

  • Experience as a MET Technician, or a strong background as an Automotive Technician or Mechanic looking to move into MET
  • A quality-first mindset and strong attention to detail

If you have the foundations and the right approach, we're open to supporting further development.

No two Solus sites are the same, but what's consistent is how we treat people. We value calm problem-solving, teamwork and technical judgement, and we know MET is a role where trust and communication matter just as much as technical skill.

At Solus, you'll find:

  • A collaborative workshop environment where MET expertise is respected
  • Leaders who understand the importance of safe, accurate repairs
  • Opportunities to grow your skills and take on more complexity over time
  • An inclusive culture where you don't need to fit a stereotype to succeed

Solus, who are owned by Aviva, are one of the UK leaders in vehicle repairs, returning cars to the road in just 11 days on average and a 4.6/5 star customer rating. With an award-winning apprenticeship programme and winners of other recognised industry awards Solus are proud to be shaping the future of vehicle repair.
