Location: Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes (Hybrid minimum 60% onsite)

Duration: Initial 6-month contract

Rate: £345.25 per day PAYE / £442.08 per day Umbrella

Security Clearance: SC Clearance required (or ability to obtain)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Service Transition Manager to join a large-scale technology and operations function supporting business-critical services. You will play a key role in ensuring the controlled introduction, modification and retirement of IT services, working closely with project teams, operational support functions and key stakeholders to ensure services are transitioned smoothly into Business-as-Usual (BAU) operations. This position offers the opportunity to work within a highly secure and collaborative environment where service quality, operational readiness and stakeholder engagement are central to success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the transition of new and changed IT services into live operational environments.
  • Coordinate day-to-day Service Transition activities, ensuring established processes and procedures are followed.
  • Assess operational readiness and provide recommendations regarding go-live, service acceptance and early life support.
  • Work with operational teams to ensure service acceptance criteria are clearly defined, understood and achieved.
  • Coordinate transition activities across projects, suppliers and support teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, providing guidance on Service Transition best practice.
  • Identify training requirements and support operational teams in adopting new services.
  • Monitor, analyse and resolve complex service transition issues.
  • Maintain Service Transition dashboards and reporting to provide visibility of service activity.
  • Produce management information and KPI reporting aligned to operational objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through regular reviews and stakeholder engagement.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • ITIL Foundation certification (minimum requirement).
  • Proven experience in Service Transition within complex IT environments.
  • Experience documenting processes, procedures and operational readiness activities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and engagement skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering against targets and deadlines.
  • Ability to influence, negotiate and build relationships at all levels.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating multiple workstreams, teams and suppliers.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must:

  • Be a sole British citizen.
  • Have resided in the UK for at least 2 of the last 5 years.
  • Be eligible to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance.
  • Existing SC clearance is advantageous but not essential.

Working Arrangements

Hybrid working model with a minimum of 60% onsite attendance. Primary location: Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes. Occasional travel to London and other UK locations may be required.
