A senior finance role where your expertise shapes real-world decisions. We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountancy Technician to provide high-quality financial support across a range of services. You will work closely with managers, lead on budgets and reporting, and help ensure resources are managed effectively and in line with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead on capital and revenue budgeting, ensuring compliance with financial regulations
  • Provide clear financial analysis and professional advice to operational and senior managers
  • Prepare financial data and reports to support informed decision-making
  • Maintain and develop financial and accounting systems, including final accounts and statutory returns
  • Monitor performance against budgets and targets, supporting timely corrective action
  • Build effective working relationships with schools, clients, suppliers and partners
  • Ensure grant claims, returns and income are accurate and submitted on time
  • Supervise and develop Accounting Technicians and finance trainees

About you

  • AAT qualified (or working towards), or degree-qualified in a relevant discipline
  • Post-qualification experience in a finance or accounting environment
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience supporting an accounting system
  • Good understanding of accounting standards, statutory regulations and audit principles
  • Confident analysing and presenting financial information clearly
  • Able to advise, influence and build trust with senior stakeholders
  • Experience of supervising or coaching staff
  • Highly organised, accurate and able to meet deadlines with minimal supervision

Working arrangements

  • Based in Crewe, Cheshire
  • Regular office attendance 2–3 times per month, as determined by business need
  • Daily office attendance for the first 4–8 weeks for training and onboarding
