Following a recent departmental restructure, including within Finance, an organisation is seeking a Lead Finance Business Partner to lead and develop a finance team supporting a key area of the business. This role will focus on strengthening financial insight, forecasting, and forward planning while embedding effective collaboration with senior stakeholders. You will lead and support a team of finance professionals, ensuring high-quality outputs and helping the team evolve their ways of working in line with the organisation’s future direction. The team includes long-standing, experienced individuals who are accustomed to working in established ways. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, guidance, and development capability — creating a cohesive, high-performing unit while remaining comfortable working hands‑on with financial detail.
Key Accountabilities- Manage and deliver all assigned financial activities to agreed time, cost, and quality standards
- Develop and deliver the functional finance strategy and drive delivery of objectives
- Provide strong leadership, line management, and task management in line with organisational policies and processes
- Guide, coach, and develop team members to drive performance and capability
- Ensure robust internal financial controls and governance frameworks are in place and adhered to
- Drive identification and implementation of process improvements and innovation initiatives
- Support the development and maintenance of finance policies and procedures
- Escalate financial issues appropriately to Project and Programme leadership
- Operate as a mid-level leader, role‑modelling high standards of professionalism and collaboration
- Maintain and promote high personal standards in environment, safety, health, security, and quality
- Manage the timely provision of accurate, high-quality financial information
- Ensure appropriate analysis and interpretation of financial data is produced by the team
- Establish, monitor, and report on compliance with financial processes and controls
- Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial information
- Lead forecasting and forward-planning activities
- Build and maintain effective relationships with senior stakeholders
- Lead the training and development of Finance Managers and Finance Analysts
- Coordinate and plan team deliverables to meet business requirements
- Review and assure the quality of work produced by a team of three direct reports
- Lead by example to foster a positive, high-performing team culture
You will be an experienced finance professional with strong business partnering experience and proven people‑leadership capability. You are confident operating at both strategic and detailed levels, able to bring clarity and direction to established teams, and comfortable influencing senior stakeholders.
