Engineering Configuration Manager

Rate: £38.00 per hour Umbrella / £28.41 per hour PAYE Contract: Until July 2027 with strong likelihood of extension

We are recruiting for an experienced Engineering Configuration Manager to join a leading aerospace engineering organisation on a long-term contract.

This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly collaborative engineering environment, supporting complex aircraft programmes and playing a key role in engineering change and configuration management activities.

Working within a cross-functional team, you will be responsible for driving engineering configuration activities across the full product lifecycle, ensuring changes are delivered efficiently while maintaining compliance, quality and programme objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage engineering configuration and change management activities from initial proposal through to implementation.
  • Coordinate engineering change process deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
  • Support configuration management activities throughout the aircraft lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Programme, Manufacturing, Airworthiness and other business functions to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
  • Identify risks, manage priorities and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and digital transformation projects.
  • Champion configuration management best practice across engineering teams.
  • Provide guidance and support to multidisciplinary teams on configuration processes and methods.
  • Support workload planning to ensure delivery commitments are maintained.
  • Key Skills & Experience

We're looking for candidates with strong experience in engineering configuration management and end-to-end engineering change processes.

Essential experience includes

  • Proven experience managing engineering configuration or technical change processes.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end Configuration Management (CM).
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience coordinating engineering changes across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Aerospace experience is highly desirable, although candidates from other highly regulated engineering sectors will also be considered.

Desirable experience

  • Product Data Management (PDM) tools.
  • Configuration management toolsets.
  • Engineering digitalisation or automation experience.
  • Python or SQL knowledge.
  • Experience using Skywise or similar digital platforms.
  • Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
