About Me
I am looking for a compassionate, dedicated and reliable Personal Assistant to join a small support team providing care for myself, a teenage boy with complex care needs, autism, global developmental delay and communication needs.
I am non-verbal and communicate through body language, vocalisations, facial expressions, and by making choices using objects or pictures. I enjoy music, sensory activities, board books, watching my favourite programmes, and spending time with my family and friends. I also enjoy using my walking frame, support getting out and about and doing the activities he loves (such as walks in parks, visits to local garden centre or book shops and libraries).
My goals include developing my skills and independence, spending quality time with my family and friends, and being supported to access activities that I enjoy. I need a consistent support team who can understand, recognise and anticipate my needs while providing safe, person-centred care.
At times, I may experience behaviours of distress, particularly when I am anxious, overwhelmed, unwell or unsettled. I can become distressed by loud noises, unfamiliar environments and changes to my routine, and I may display behaviours of concern.
Experience of autism, behaviours of distress or complex care would be beneficial, but full training and ongoing support will be provided.
The Role
As part of my support team, I need support with all aspects of my daily care and complex health needs, including:
- Supporting me with my personal care and continence needs.
