ABOUT THE ROLE
I am an independent creative person who likes to keep fit. I live at home with daily care following a road traffic accident, I am paralysed from the chest down with an amputation above my right knee. I enjoy singing and music and I would like to act or perform in theatre. I enjoy completing quizzes and keeping active. I enjoy going to the gym and looking after my physical health as this also aids with my mental health. I would like to create my own disability podcasts. I use a wheelchair but enjoy accessing the community. You will be required to support me to do this, to find and explore new ideas and options to keep my mind creative and to allow me to keep my body physically fit. Evening support will include going into London to access the Theatre, Cinema and other activities.
ABOUT YOU
The ideal person will be creative, lively, active and able to multitask whilst thinking on their feet. You need to be experienced in supporting somebody with mental health as well as ADHD. You will need to be able to use your initiative and research/apply using your online administrative skills to support me in seeking and enrolling on courses. You will need to be able to accept direction from me to support me with clinical tasks that arise. You will support me to seek out grants for funding to allow me to explore creative projects to keep me active. You need to be positive and upbeat to help me achieve this. As I find it difficult to concentrate for long periods of time, I require information in bite-sized chunks to keep me focused. I need support and help to keep organised, planning my activities and getting into a routine whilst completing tasks around my home, supporting with shopping and keeping me up to date with medical appointments. You need to be fluent in English, in both reading and writing as the role will include speaking to other organisations as well as communicating via email. I have 7 hours per week of paid care to be used flexibly as agreed and arranged by myself, these hours would be made known to you with four weeks' notice.
