Position: Waking Night Personal Assistant
Location: Farnsfield, Nottinghamshire
Hourly rate: £13.79 per hour
Hours per week:Week One:Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Week Two: Monday, Thursday and Friday. Night shifts are from 10pm to 08.00am.

ABOUT THE ROLE
I am a 37-year-old male who lives with my dad. I\’ve been diagnosed with learning difficulties, type 1 diabetes, and renal failure.
I\’ve been on dialysis four times a week for the past five years due to renal failure. I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when I was a child, and my blood glucose levels are unpredictable, therefore I have a personalised insulin regimen.
I enjoy listening to music and smoking cigarettes (please note that I do not smoke in my home). Being able to make my own decisions and be in charge of my own life is important to me.
I require 1:1 waking night support to maintain my safety and well-being overnight while my dad is sleeping. I will be awake in the lounge when you come, and I will require encouragement to go to bed; otherwise, I will fall asleep in the chair! Throughout the night, you will be expected to respond to my continuous glucose monitor and assist with home chores.
Through tailored training, you will learn about my specific needs, including diabetes management.
ABOUT YOU
I am looking for someone with a genuine caring nature and a great sense of humor.
Communication is key! I need someone who can give me time to explain what I want to say and who can also encourage me to make wise decisions—mostly regarding the management of my diabetes.
I do not always react well to being told what to do and I do not like having my independence challenged. To make sure my care is not put at risk, I need someone who can respond skillfully and adjust to different circumstances.

Solo Support Services is an alternative to a domiciliary care agency and we provide a range of services for individuals who have a budget for care and support and require assistance to live independently at home. Support can be for personal care, household chores, mobility or more complex health related conditions and we work with you to find your own Personal Assistant (PA) or team of Personal Assistants (PAs) which can include family members. You will have flexible support allowing you to live safely and comfortably at home assisted by a team of people who you know and trust.
