Overview
Are you a caring, positive person who loves supporting others to meet people, explore, and enjoy new things? I am a friendly, fun-loving young man living at home with my mum, my dog, and my cat. I experienced a severe brain injury following a cardiac arrest when I was younger, so I now need round-the-clock support from both my family and a small care team.
About my needs
I have limited mobility and use a hoist for transfers. Iβm also visually impaired and non-verbal, so itβs important that my support workers get to know the ways I communicate. I eat and take all my medication through a PEG.
I love getting out and about, being active in the community, and enjoying things that are age-appropriate and meaningful. Having the right support around me helps make all this possible, so Iβm looking for someone who really cares and wants to be part of that.
Responsibilities
- Provide support with daily activities and mobility needs, including transfers using a hoist.
- Support communication and understanding of needs for a non-verbal individual.
- Assist with feeding and medication administration through a PEG, as required.
- Support participation in outings and community activities, and help maintain a routine that supports wellbeing.
- Communicate clearly, be patient, calm, kind, reliable, and enjoy engaging with activities and meeting people.
- Work with the family and care team to ensure safety and well-being at all times.
Requirements / Qualifications
- Essential: full UK driving licence and confidence driving a mobility-adapted vehicle, as regular outings are part of the role.
- Male preference (not essential) due to personal care involved.
- Experience in complex care or learning disabilities is a bonus.
