I am a lady in my 80s who has a diagnosis of Alzheimer's, Type 2 diabetes and am non‑verbal. I live in my home with my husband and my daughter lives nearby, and I have a fantastic current team of personal assistants who have worked with me for many years who understands my needs and wishes. My condition means that I require support with all aspects of my daily living and suitable candidates will need to be able to support me with various tasks throughout the day, these include but are not limited to personal care, continence care, administering of medication, basic household tasks and nutrition and hydration. I require 24‑hour support to have my needs met. I do not know when I need to eat or drink so will need assistance with this, I will need support with continence care and due to loss in mobility I cannot support my personal assistants with changing me, therefore experience with moving and handing would be beneficial. I need support to maintain my skin integrity, being observant is a key skill which I require all my personal assistants to have. I will need someone who will take care of my care needs in a professional manner alongside being open, friendly, offer reassurance and willing to build a relationship with me to encompass delivering person centred care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care, continence care and medication administration.
  • Assist with nutrition and hydration, including monitoring meals and fluid intake.
  • Support household tasks and maintain cleanliness.
  • Help with mobility, moving and handling.
  • Observe and maintain skin integrity.
  • Build rapport and create a friendly, supportive environment.
  • Offer companionship and social interaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience in personal care and continence care is advantageous but not compulsory.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and respect for the home environment.
  • Good standard of English, initiative and willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy, patience and emotional support.
  • Training will be provided.
