Wellbeing and Safeguarding Adviser – 0.88 FTE

Salary: £30,917 – £32,930 (pro‑rota £27,206 – £28,978)

Are you an experienced safeguarding practitioner with a strong drive to make a difference? We require a skilled and highly motivated individual to join our established team of Wellbeing and Safeguarding Advisers. You will have the passion to inspire every student to reach their full potential regardless of their starting point.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide effective, high-quality safeguarding and wellbeing support in accordance with the college’s safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Work alongside curriculum staff and the wider Progress Team to deliver strategies that meet individual student needs, removing learning barriers.
  • Pro‑actively promote the safety and wellbeing of students throughout the college.
  • Manage a specific caseload of students, dealing with safeguarding and wellbeing issues on a daily basis.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Proven track record of safeguarding or wellbeing support, ideally in an educational setting.
  • Experience with safeguarding and child protection mechanisms.
  • Understanding of the range of issues facing young people (social, emotional, behavioural) and ability to motivate diverse student needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, empathy, calmness and problem‑solving approach.
  • Resilience and outstanding interpersonal skills to build good working relationships, use negotiation and diplomacy with staff, parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification in safeguarding or wellbeing (or equivalent).
  • Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (or equivalent).

Tameside College is located in Ashton‑Under‑Lyne, Greater Manchester, offering a wide range of courses including A‑level and advanced level vocational programmes, apprenticeships and adult courses up to degree level.
