Family Support worker in the Family Time Service, based at Willow House, Chelmsley Wood, Solihull. The role requires flexible working hours, including some evenings until 8:00 pm and some Saturdays, to meet service needs. The contact centre operates from 9:30 am to 8:00 pm.
As a Family Support Worker you will provide high quality support for children, young people and families. You will hold your own caseload and undertake a range of direct work such as Life story work, a therapeutic process to help children and young people understand their past, identity, and personal history to build a positive self‑image and foster healing from trauma. You will complete evidence‑based interventions and implement plans within the Family Time centre, family homes, and community venues, supervise scheduled Family Time activities while promoting safe and meaningful family connections with the child’s best interests at heart. You will work as part of a multi‑agency approach and support the coordination of support for families.
About You
- Level 3 qualification, e.g. Level 3 Diploma for Children and Young People’s Workforce
- Experience of working on a 1‑1 basis with children, young people or their families in a social care, educational or voluntary setting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish collaborative relationships with children and their families, which may be emotionally demanding at times
- Good organisational skills
- Effective team working skills
- Experience of writing reports and knowledge of promoting safeguarding issues
- Experience of undertaking assessments, understanding threshold criteria, and skills in delivering direct work and evidence‑based interventions
