Solihull Council is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Administration Officer to join our Planning, Design & Engagement Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the delivery of the Building Safety Levy, a new high-profile national initiative that helps ensure the safety of our built environment. In addition, you will contribute to vital services including Planning, Building Control and Land Charges.
Working within a busy and supportive administration team, you’ll provide essential systems, data and customer support, ensuring services run smoothly and deliver high-quality outcomes for residents, businesses and partners.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing frontline advice and support to customers, businesses and stakeholders.
- Maintaining and updating Building Safety Levy records, databases and statutory registers accurately.
- Ensuring national deadlines are met and processes followed with regards to receipting and invoicing payments for the Building Safety Levy.
- Supporting Planning and Building Control teams, including interpreting construction drawings and calculating the levy.
- Managing and inputting data into specialist systems such as GIS mapping and web applications.
- Processing financial transactions, fees and payments in line with regulations.
- Supporting the delivery of events, meetings and service activities.
- Ensuring compliance with GDPR, legislation and council policies.
About you
We’re looking for someone who is organised, adaptable and committed to delivering excellent service. You will also have:
- Previous experience in an administration or office-based role.
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and database systems.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
- Ability to manage data accurately and maintain records.
- Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
- Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
