Monkspath School is a welcoming, inclusive primary school where children are known, valued and supported to thrive. We are seeking a dedicated, patient and compassionate 1:1 SEN Support Assistant to work closely with a Year 3 child with complex needs, as part of our committed inclusion team. This role is a wonderful opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a real difference to a child's daily experience of school.

About the Role

You will provide consistent 1:1 support across the school day for a young child in Year 3 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The child has a diagnosis of autism, alongside speech and language needs, sensory processing differences and medical needs, and requires a highly attuned adult to help them feel safe, understood and ready to learn. You will support the child with the support and guidance of the class teacher, SENCo and wider professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting communication using simple language, visuals and routines.
  • Helping the child manage transitions and daily expectations.
  • Supporting emotional regulation and sensory needs in a calm, attuned way.
  • Encouraging independence, engagement and positive interactions.
  • Working closely with the class teacher, SENCo and wider professionals.

  • Is warm, calm, patient and emotionally attuned.
  • Has experience of supporting children with autism and additional needs.
  • Understands the importance of routine, predictability and visual support.
  • Can follow professional guidance while responding sensitively to a child's individual cues.
  • Is confident working 1:1, but also as part of a supportive team.
  • Is reflective, flexible and keen to learn.
  • Can support personal care and sensory needs with dignity and respect.
