Role Description
The Transport & Traffic Planner is responsible for all activities related to ensuring our customers always receive goods on time via our network of haulage partners. Previous experience of traffic planning within a busy environment is required so that you can support the planning performed by our vendors. Applicants will require a strong level of computer skills to then be provided training on systems they will use. The role requires a high level of diligence and communication on a daily basis to ensure all transport requirements are correctly understood, translated and delivered for the customer. Shipment progress will be monitored each day ensuring early problem solving of any potential issues. Where it may become necessary to contact customers you will present our Account Management team with all of the information they require to discuss the situation and find an acceptable resolution.
What are you going to do
- Manage a small team β develop skills, performance, behaviours & attendance following company procedures and set goals & objectives during one-to-one sessions, manage expectations.
- Ensuring that all transport requirements are booked with haulage partners in an accurate and timely manner.
- Raise Purchase orders associated with haulage activities.
- Be the first point of contact and owner of any enquiry relating to transport based matters, ensuring all enquiries are turnaround in a timely manner.
- Management of inbound / outbound loading schedule to ensure effective and efficient management of resources at all times.
- Manage and process customs clearance.
- Work closely with the Warehouse & Distribution team to ensure excellent internal communications around shipping / inbound requirements.
- Daily cross functional liaising with all colleagues across the business where required in matters relating to transport.
- Ensure CRM systems are kept updated following each and every contact with vendors.
- Actively assist the Warehouse team in the management of stock.
- Assist in the management of PODs where required.
- Attend and participate in any meetings required.
- Achieve KPIs set for the department and individuals.
- Ensure customs clearance documents are up to date and filed as required.
Experience
- Experience of managing a small team.
- Previous experience of transport management.
- Experience of customs clearance process and procedures.
- Effective and efficient time management prioritising and multi-tasking.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Active problem solving.
- A team player β prepared to help with all tasks.
- Flexible approach managing work within specific deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with excellent telephone manner.
- Competent in MS Office β Outlook, Word, Excel.
- Experience within the packaging industry.
- Knowledge of Sage 200.
