gap personnel Exeter is recruiting for Composite Finishers / Styrene-Based Filler Technicians on behalf of a leading defence engineering client based at Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth.

We're looking for individuals with experience working with styrene-based fillers, fairing, or car bodywork, who can perform in a high-spec, controlled environment supporting key UK defence infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply styrene-based fillers to high-precision components
  • Perform fairing and surface preparation work (marine/aerospace style)
  • Use of Polysulphide sealers (desirable)
  • Work within strict COSHH and DSEAR control procedures
  • Operate in confined spaces and heated environments for extended periods
  • Wear Versaflow RPE during tasks
  • Follow all health, safety, and operational procedures (OWP commitment)
Experience & Requirements
  • Experience with styrene-based fillers OR Background in fairing, automotive bodywork, or composite finishing
  • Understanding of COSHH and DSEAR control measures
  • NVQ or equivalent qualification desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in confined and PPE-intensive environments
  • British Nationality – must be eligible for and willing to obtain Full SC Clearance
Contract Details
  • 18-month programme – high potential for extension
  • Rate: To be confirmed, based on experience and clearance
  • Structured shifts, Monday–Friday
  • Weekly pay through gap personnel
