To drive growth, they’re looking to scale their Design Automation & Configuration (DAC) capabilities across the organisation. Building on high-impact solutions already proven within the business. They’re seeking an immediate hire to lead these efforts. Looking ahead, you will play a key role in expanding this dedicated team by 3 to 4 additional developers over the next 12 months.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain custom SolidWorks add-ins, Driveworks tools, macros, and API-driven automation solutions using C#.
- Automate design workflows, including 3D modelling, dynamic drawing generation, and automated Bill of Materials (BOM) creation.
- Build custom plugins, robust desktop applications, and scalable engineering tools using .NET and C# to minimize manual effort and improve consistency.
- Seamlessly integrate CAD tools with PLM, ERP, relational databases (SQL), and cloud environments.
- Structure and manage engineering data to support scalable product configuration and computational workflows.
- Partner closely with engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to translate complex technical requirements into high-performing software solutions.
- Resolve performance, API, and automation workflow issues across custom engineering applications.
- Maintain technical documentation, contribute to development best practices, and mentor junior developers as the team scales.
- Explore and incorporate AI-assisted development tools to enhance overall engineering productivity.
Experiences required:
- Strong hands-on software development experience with C#, .NET, and .NET Framework (or equivalent Object-Oriented background in Java, C++, VB.NET, or TypeScript, provided there is a desire to focus primarily on C#).
- Familiarity with scripting or legacy automation languages such as VBA, Python, or PowerShell.
- Proven track record using the SolidWorks API and Driveworks (or deep API development experience with closely related CAD/AEC platforms such as Autodesk Inventor API, Autodesk Revit API, AutoCAD ObjectARX/.NET, or CATIA Automation).
- Solid background in database design and management (SQL or similar relational databases) with strong data modelling aptitude.
- Practical understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), software design patterns, and overall application architecture.
- Background developing software tailored for Engineering, AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction), or Manufacturing environments.
- Understanding of standard engineering drawings, 3D modelling, and core manufacturing concepts.
