We are looking for a Design Lead to drive the innovation and delivery of world‑class sports surfaces and field‑of‑play infrastructure within their global project portfolio.
As Design Lead, you will oversee multidisciplinary projects, ensuring design excellence and technical compliance from initial concept through to construction. You will be the technical heartbeat of their sports surface projects, coordinating complex outputs and maintaining high-level client relationships.
Responsibilities:
- Leading major sports surface and infrastructure projects, ensuring total alignment with technical standards and client visions
- Managing design delivery across all RIBA stages (0–7), ensuring outputs meet required levels of detail and information (LoD/LoI)
- Maintaining project design intent and ensuring seamless coordination between internal disciplines and external consultants
- Managing design programmes in alignment with ISO 19650 standards, specifically overseeing MIDPs (Master Information Delivery Plans) and TIDPs (Task Information Delivery Plans)
- Acting as the primary design lead for clients, architects, and contractors
- Integrating new materials, sustainable systems, and advanced monitoring technologies into field‑of‑play design
- Overseeing resource planning and mentoring junior design staff to foster a culture of technical excellence
- Attending site visits and client meetings across the UK and internationally
Experiences required:
- Professional experience in the design and delivery of sports facilities, stadiums/arenas, or landscape engineering projects
- High proficiency using Revit
- High proficiency using AutoCAD or Civil 3D
- Strong understanding of substructure engineering
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, Sports Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Professional accreditation (e.g., Chartered Engineer, Architect, or equivalent) is desirable
