The Role
We are seeking a Mechatronics Engineer to join Steatite in Leominster, supporting the development of advanced antenna positioning systems used across defence, government and commercial sectors. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, this role combines both electronic and mechanical engineering expertise, supporting projects from concept through to production. You will work on innovative electromechanical and automation-based systems, contributing to the design, testing, validation and delivery of bespoke engineering solutions operating within demanding real-world environments. This is a full-time, site-based role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new electromechanical antenna positioning systems and bespoke customer solutions
- Support motor sizing, control system selection and related engineering activities
- Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical documentation
- Support software and GUI development for product control systems
- Undertake prototype assembly, testing and validation activities
- Participate in design reviews, engineering changes and continuous improvement activities
- Support production testing, reliability activities and quality compliance
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering, production and commercial teams
- Ensure compliance with ISO9001 and company quality standards
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience within electromechanical design, mechatronics, robotics or automation systems
- Strong technical problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Hands-on and adaptable engineering approach
- Engineering degree, apprenticeship or equivalent practical experience
- Eligibility for SC Security Clearance
Desirable
- Experience within defence, military or harsh environment applications
- Exposure to automation, motion control or control systems
