Steatite Antennas is looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering team in Leominster.
This is a hands‑on technical role for an engineer who enjoys solving complex design challenges and taking responsibility for mechanical solutions from initial concept through development, testing and into production.
Working alongside our RF, mechatronics and production engineering teams, you will help develop specialist antenna products and systems designed to perform reliably in demanding environments.
- What you will be doing
- Lead the mechanical design and development of antenna products and subsystems on assigned programmes.
- Take ownership of complex mechanical design tasks and engineering work packages.
- Develop robust solutions that balance performance, reliability, manufacturability and cost.
- Produce and review engineering drawings, designs and technical documentation.
- Support design reviews, verification, validation and qualification activities.
- Work closely with RF, mechatronics and production engineering to ensure designs are fully integrated and manufacturable.
- Support prototype builds and the transition of new designs into production.
- Investigate and resolve complex design and build issues.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to Mechanical Engineers.
- Contribute technical expertise to customer discussions, bids and proposals.
- What we are looking for
You will be an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in mechanical design and product development, comfortable taking ownership of technically challenging work.
You will ideally bring
- Significant mechanical design/development experience within an engineering environment.
- Experience taking products or complex mechanical designs from concept through to manufacture.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, design standards and configuration control.
- Experience supporting design reviews and verification/validation activities.
- The ability to solve complex technical problems through analysis, design iteration and testing.
- Experience working collaboratively across different engineering disciplines.
- A good understanding of design for manufacture and the transition from prototype into production.
- The confidence to provide technical guidance and mentor other engineers.
