The Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Antennas Division, supporting the design and development of innovative antenna products and systems used in demanding defence, aerospace, communications and technology applications. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, with day‑to‑day guidance from the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play an important role in delivering mechanical design solutions from concept through to production. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the development of high‑performance products, supporting design, testing, manufacturing and continuous improvement activities. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their technical expertise within a specialist RF and antenna engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design & Development
  • Produce mechanical designs, 3D models, engineering drawings, and bills of materials for antenna products and systems.
  • Apply appropriate materials, tolerances, finishes and environmental considerations in line with product requirements.
  • Support product development activities from concept and prototype through to production release.
  • Carry out design analysis and support testing and evaluation activities as required.
  • Engineering Support
  • Support prototype and production builds, assisting with the resolution of mechanical design issues.
  • Update designs and technical documentation in response to engineering changes and manufacturing feedback.
  • Ensure design data is accurately maintained and controlled in accordance with configuration management requirements.
  • Support and participate in environmental, qualification and acceptance testing activities.
  • Standards & Continuous Improvement
  • Work in accordance with engineering standards, procedures and design best practices.
  • Participate in design reviews and implement agreed actions.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety and compliance.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned activities.
  • Collaboration
  • Work closely with RF, Mechatronics, Manufacturing and Production Engineering teams.
  • Develop technical knowledge of antenna products, systems and associated technologies.
  • Support a collaborative and innovative engineering culture.

Skills & Experience

We are looking for a motivated engineer with strong mechanical design skills and a desire to work within a technically challenging engineering environment. You will ideally have:

  • Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience using 3D CAD software to produce mechanical designs and engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, tolerances and design for manufacture principles.
  • Experience supporting products through development, testing and production.
  • Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Experience within defence, aerospace, communications or advanced technology sectors.
  • Familiarity with environmental testing, product qualification and configuration control processes.
  • Knowledge of RF, antenna or electro‑mechanical products.
