Steatite is looking for an experienced Senior Wireperson to join our team in Tewkesbury.

This is a hands on role for someone with significant practical experience of electrical/electronic wiring, control panels, cable looms or harnesses who takes real pride in producing high-quality work.

Alongside your own production work, you'll be one of the people others can turn to for technical guidance. You will have the opportunity to share your experience, demonstrate best practice and help less experienced colleagues develop their wiring skills and confidence.

You don't need to be a qualified trainer. What matters most is your technical expertise, quality of workmanship and willingness to pass that knowledge on.

What You Will Be Doing

• Build and wire control panels, cable looms, harnesses and electrical/electronic assemblies.
• Work accurately from schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
• Carry out cable preparation, crimping, terminations and associated assembly activities.
• Troubleshoot wiring faults and resolve technical issues.
• Maintain consistently high standards of workmanship, quality and safety.
• Provide practical technical guidance to other members of the team.
• Coach and support less experienced colleagues in wiring techniques and best practice.
• Help maintain and improve work instructions, SOPs and wiring standards.
• Support quality checks and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Work closely with Production, Engineering and Quality colleagues.
• Significant hands-on experience in electrical/electronic wiring, control panel wiring, cable looms, harnesses or similar assembly work.
• Strong practical knowledge of cables, connectors, crimps, terminations and electrical components.
• Ability to confidently interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and technical drawings.
• Good fault-finding and practical problem-solving skills.
• Experience working to defined quality and workmanship standards.
• High attention to detail and pride in producing quality work.
• Ability and willingness to share technical knowledge and support less experienced colleagues.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Understanding of safe working practices within an engineering/manufacturing environment.
• Experience working to IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards.
• Soldering experience and knowledge of relevant workmanship standards.
• Previous experience mentoring, coaching or informally training others.
• Experience within defence, aerospace, electronics or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.
• Experience contributing to SOPs, work instructions or standard operating processes.
• Knowledge of Lean, 5S or continuous improvement principles.

Qualifications

Ideally, you will hold an NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds Level 3, electrical/electronic apprenticeship or equivalent vocational qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Wiring & Assembly or a related discipline.

However, we recognise that some of the best technical expertise is built through years of practical experience. Relevant demonstrable experience will therefore also be considered.
