Senior Design Draughtsperson – SolidWorks Permanent Full-Time Salary – Circa £42,000 DOE Location – Office based in Biggleswade We\’re excited to be supporting a leading manufacturer of industrial doors, the company designs and supplies high-performance solutions for sectors including aviation, emergency services, transport, and commercial infrastructure. Known for engineering excellence and global reach, it offers bespoke systems tailored for demanding environments, with a focus on safety, durability, and innovation. Following continued growth and increased demand for their services, they are now looking to expand their design department with the addition of a Senior Design Draughtsperson, responsible for producing detailed engineering drawings, developing 3D models in SolidWorks, and collaborating with teams to deliver practical, manufacturable design solutions. Responsibilities, but are not limited to Lead the design of bespoke industrial door systems from initial concept through to detailed engineering drawings Produce 2D General Arrangement drawings in AutoCAD and develop 3D models and manufacturing drawings in SolidWorks within a PDM environment Collaborate with engineering and production teams to ensure designs are practical, manufacturable, and meet project specifications Apply mechanical engineering principles to optimise structural integrity and functionality Define and maintain design documentation, test procedures, and acceptance criteria Support continuous improvement initiatives and mentor junior team membersExperiences required Minimum 5 years\’ professional experience in an engineering metal fabrication environment Proficient in 3D modelling using SolidWorks or similar CAD software (e.g. Solid Edge, Inventor, Fusion 360, Blender, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, CATIA) Competent 2D drafter using AutoCAD or equivalent (e.g. BricsCAD, DraftSight, LibreCAD, NanoCAD, ZWCAD) Experienced in designing steelwork, sheet metal, and mechanical components Skilled in creating detailed technical drawing packs for manufacture (DFM) Experience using SolidWorks PDM or comparable systems (e.g. Autodesk Vault, Siemens Teamcenter, or PTC Windchill) is desirablePackage 37.5 Hours P/W | Monday to Friday | 8am to 4pm | 30 Minute Lunch | 33 Days Holiday Inc.
