Contract Furniture Designer – SWOOD IR35 Status: Out Hourly – Circa £38 DOE Contract Term – 6 months potential for extension Location – Hybrid, office in Shrewsbury We\’re excited to be supporting a well-established company with over 20 years of experience in designing and crafting bespoke kitchens and fitted furniture. Known for their traditional cabinet-making techniques and precision tooling, their team of designers and furniture makers work closely with an in-house construction crew to deliver full refurbishments, bespoke kitchens, and fitted furniture. Due to high project demand and an internal transition to SolidWorks and SWOOD, the team\’s capacity is stretched. They\’re seeking a contract Furniture Designer to transform conceptual designs into detailed, production-ready models and CNC outputs, supporting the delivery of bespoke fitted furniture projects with precision and efficiency. Responsibilities, but are not limited to Develop detailed 3D models from conceptual designs using SolidWorks and SWOOD Create parametric assemblies for fitted furniture including kitchens, wardrobes, and office units Generate CNC-ready toolpaths and nesting layouts using SWOOD CAM and SWOOD Nesting Produce technical documentation including cutting lists, hardware lists, BOMs, and panel saw exports Maintain and manage component libraries and design templates for consistency and efficiency Collaborate with production, procurement, and installation teams to ensure feasibility and alignment with project requirements Ensure all outputs meet manufacturing standards and are optimised for production Use SolidWorks PDM or similar systems for version control and data managementExperiences required Proficient in SolidWorks for accurate 3D modelling Skilled in SWOOD for creating detailed technical drawings and CNC outputs Background in designing fitted furniture (domestic or commercial) Must provide own CAD-capable workstation Must provide own SOLIDWORKS and SWOOD licenses
