Our client is seeking a precise, detail-oriented Microbiology Laboratory Technician to join their laboratory team. In this role, you will perform essential day-to-day microbiological testing, media preparation, and quality control activities to support ongoing operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Testing & Accuracy: Conduct routine microbiology testing activities with the highest degree of accuracy, attention to detail, and adherence to turnaround times.
- Media & Reagent Prep: Accurately measure, prepare, and sterilize laboratory media, diluents, and reagents according to SOPs.
- Quality & Compliance: Check deionised water conductivity, measure post-sterilization pH levels, and report any out-of-specification (OOS) results immediately.
- Documentation: Ensure all lab sheets, logs, and technical records are legibly and correctly completed in ink.
- Lab Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, tidy workstation and assist with equipment operations, calibrations, and internal/external laboratory audits.
What We Are Looking For
- Education & Experience (Preferred): A degree (or equivalent qualification) in microbiology or a relevant discipline. Alternatively, a minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar testing laboratory environment.
- Accreditation Knowledge (Preferred): Proven experience working in an accredited laboratory environment.
- ISO/IEC 17025 (Nice to have): Familiarity with the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 is a strong advantage.
- Technical Skills: Strong ability to operate technical lab equipment accurately, learn practical techniques, and strictly follow documented SOPs.
- Personal Attributes: Meticulous attention to detail, excellent manual dexterity, and strong hand-eye coordination.
- Core Skills: Highly numerate with professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Independence: A self-motivated individual capable of working with minimal supervision once fully trained.
