Head of Design – Furniture Permanent Full-Time

Salary: Circa 47,000 DOE
Location: In Office, London

We are excited to partner with a leading design studio specialising in bespoke furniture and interiors. Renowned for their craftsmanship, innovation, and sustainability, the company collaborates with clients to deliver timeless designs that balance functionality with elegance.

As the company continues to grow, they are seeking a Head of Design to bring their design capabilities in-house and play a key role in driving the business forward.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to:

  1. Oversee and optimise design department systems, processes, and standards to improve efficiency and quality.
  2. Schedule workloads, manage the design team, and ensure on-time project delivery.
  3. Estimate and track design hours for projects, ensuring accurate resource allocation.
  4. Mentor and inspire the design team, fostering professional growth and excellence.
  5. Conduct detailed site surveys to gather accurate inputs for design development.
  6. Collaborate with clients and directors to align design concepts with project goals.
  7. Present design proposals and detailed drawings to clients, directors, and production teams.
  8. Produce comprehensive design packs, including client and production drawings, sub-drawings, and CNC files for manufacturing.
  9. Maintain and update finishing schedules, procurement lists, and design documentation.
  10. Oversee material procurement and assist where required.
  11. Stay current with industry trends, materials, and technologies to maintain a competitive edge.

Experiences required:

  1. Proficiency in 3D modelling with SolidWorks is essential.
  2. Proven experience in furniture design, with a strong focus on joinery products.
  3. Expertise in creating detailed 2D technical drawing packs for manufacture (DFM).
  4. Previous experience managing or coordinating design teams in a senior role.
  5. Familiarity with SWOOD is advantageous but not essential.

Package:
40 Hours P/W Monday to Friday 8am to 4:30pm, 28 Days Holiday Inc. Bank, NEST Pension, Christmas Shutdown.
