Join our Technical Team and play a key role in shaping the future of legal regulation. As a Regulatory Adviser (internally known as Technical Adviser) within our Authorisation team, you'll provide expert legal and regulatory advice across the organisation. Authorisation is one of the SRA's largest operational teams, responsible for admitting and authorising firms and individuals, managing the annual practising certificate renewal, and handling over 170,000 applications each year.
In this role, you will:
- Review advice requests/documents to deliver high-quality decisions, reports, and advice, using your extensive knowledge of regulation and statute.
- Mentor and coach colleagues, influencing risk-based decision-making and regulatory approaches.
- Design and deliver technical training and contribute to policy development.
- Work on diverse projects, from implementing new regulations to producing documents that withstand legal scrutiny before tribunals and courts.

What we are looking for:
- A qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX Lawyer with experience of working in private practice, or in house.
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Excellent understanding of regulatory and operational risk.
- A track record of managing, delivering solutions, and taking responsibility for the successful resolution of complex issues.
- Resilience with the ability to adapt and work in a constantly changing innovative environment.
- A proactive problem solver and judgement maker.
- The ability to use high level emotional intelligence to build relationships, coach and mentor others to bring out the best in them.
