Are you wanting to start your career in policy? We are looking for a Policy Officer to join our Regulatory and Innovation Policy team based in either our Birmingham, Cardiff or London Office. This is a hybrid role.

As a Policy Officer you will contribute to the development, delivery and implementation of policies likely to have a material impact on the market for legal services. You will also support the development of our risk and equality impact assessments of policy proposals.

With good organisation, communication, project management and research skills, you will support policy work by:

  • Researching policy areas
  • Preparing information for reports and papers
  • Contributing to consultation and policy documents
  • Coordinating project delivery
  • Providing secretariat support, including scheduling, minutes, action tracking and follow-up

This role is perfect for someone keen to gain experience in policy development and who is looking to further develop their career in regulation or public services.

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrable ability to support policy development through:
    • Supporting the planning, co-ordination and delivery of policy projects within the team, including maintaining reporting and governance documents
    • Providing secretariat support to meetings, including scheduling, taking accurate minutes and actions
    • Researching information to inform policy positions e.g. approaches from other regulators and other sectors
    • Preparing and presenting information for reports and other papers, including graphic presentation
    • Establishing effective relationships with stakeholders
    • Working constructively with colleagues in an environment that values equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Good analytical skills
  • Good organisational and project management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Useful and additional information:

This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week and we are happy to talk flexible working. We are recruiting for this role in our Birmingham, Cardiff, and London offices. You will be based in the office nearest to your location, with the expectation of working 1-2 days a week in the office and the remainder of the week from home.

The salary for this role is £34,222 for Birmingham and Cardiff based and £37,644 for London based.
