Who are Investigations?

We investigate reports and complaints about solicitors and others we regulate. These investigations arise from behaviour both within and outside of practice, will vary in length and complexity and we apply a range of factors to decide on what action we should take.

What will I be doing?

You will support and assist teams of Investigation Officers, who are at the forefront of investigating reports about misconduct. You will be responsible for a range of activities and tasks which will include:

  • Drafting documents to a high standard
  • Analysing technical and legal information
  • Providing your views and findings both orally and in writing.

You will be enthusiastic with the ability to become self-supporting within a short time and be able to work both independently and under direction. You will need to be flexible and be able to work to competing priorities within defined timescales. Your primary focus will be on supporting Investigation Officers and taking direction from them on what is required from you. You will assist them to manage a varied caseload and support high priority investigations. Close attention to detail, strong analytical skills, ability to work flexibly, effective and robust communication skills and excellent drafting skills are of utmost importance in this role.

What’s in it for me?

  • Help your colleagues in protecting the public and enforcing high professional standards
  • Showcase and develop your casework, legal and customer service expertise
  • Work collaboratively with other areas of our organisation such as Legal and Enforcement, Authorisation, Intelligence and Forensic Investigation teams
  • Enjoy a varied role; your workload and responsibilities will vary from case to case
  • A generous flexible benefits package - an excellent defined contribution pension scheme, an additional 3% of annual basic salary upon successful completion of probation, £25 contribution to a monthly health and wellbeing portal and much more.

What we are looking for

  • Experienced Paralegals previously working within either a law firm, an investigation or similar-type regulatory organisation with a law degree or an equivalent qualification/experience.
  • Excellent customer experience and communication skills, both orally and in writing, to differing types of stakeholders.
  • Highly organised and reliable with the ability to self-manage and prioritise tasks
  • High level of literacy and numeracy and the ability to understand complex information
