Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for risk assessment, intelligence, and proactive investigations? This newly created role presents an exciting opportunity to establish and lead our Proactive and Intelligence function, setting the strategy for risk identification and investigative excellence.
The role involves playing a key part in the leadership of Investigations and the broader Investigations and Enforcement directorate. You will be responsible for building and developing the new Proactive team, shaping its approach and priorities to enhance our ability to detect and prevent fraud and emerging risks. With three direct reports, you will lead a team of Intelligence and Investigation Officers and Managers, working closely with risk analysis and data strategy specialists. Your role will be pivotal in identifying threats, assessing risks, and delivering high-quality investigations that create a credible deterrence across the regulated community.
Experience in data analysis and interpretation, and innovative problem-solving will be essential for success in this role. You will collaborate with internal teams and external agencies, including law enforcement and regulatory bodies, to strengthen engagement and enhance risk management capabilities. A key focus will be on ensuring the management team has the right insights, using both data and qualitative information to enhance decision-making and operational efficiency. You will identify opportunities to improve the quality and timeliness of investigations, driving continuous improvement across the function.

What we are looking for:
- Detailed understanding of assessment and identification of risk and horizon scanning.
- Ability to analyse, assimilate and evaluate large volumes of information in an efficient and effective way.
- Understanding categories of and trends in Fraud, money laundering rules and legislation, and of intelligence and investigative techniques.
- Able to make decisions at operational and strategic level.
- Experience of influencing and constructively challenging internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven experience of developing and maintaining relationships at a senior level with people of influence within a wide variety of government bodies such as National Police Forces, SFO, NCA, and also with banks, insurance, accountancy firms, and other regulators.
Useful and additional information:
This role can be based in our Birmingham, Cardiff, or London office. We operate on a hybrid working model which means working two days a week in the office, and the rest of the week from home. There is a requirement for the successful candidate to be in the Birmingham office one day a week as the team and stakeholders are primarily based in Birmingham. The starting salary for this role is £70,877. For those eligible, an additional 10% London weighting will apply.
