Intelligence Analyst/Ddadansoddwr Gwybodaeth in Cardiff

We are recruiting two experienced Intelligence Analysts to join our Intelligence Unit. We are recruiting for our offices in London, Birmingham and Cardiff. These are full-time hybrid roles and will require you to attend the office one to two days per week.

The Intelligence Unit provides a vital function to our organisation and its primary purpose is to gather, analyse, assess, develop and disseminate actionable intelligence received from a wide variety of sources in connection with the activities of the profession. Intelligence products from the team are used to progress the work of colleagues in the Investigations Directorate and inform both tactical and strategic senior decision makers.

As an Intelligence Analyst, you will be part of our Intelligence Unit, working alongside Intelligence Researchers, Intelligence Officers and a Senior Legal & Technical Advisor, reporting to the Intelligence Analyst Manager. You will play a key role in helping the SRA proactively identify and respond to emerging regulatory risks through the analysis of intelligence and information from a range of sources. Working closely with colleagues across the SRA and external partners, you will produce high-quality analytical products, including monthly assessment reports, analytical pieces, intelligence reports, target profiles, thematic assessments and risk-based recommendations, to support investigations and inform tactical and strategic decision-making.

You will manage a portfolio of intelligence casework of varying complexity and risk, ensuring timely, proportionate and high-quality outcomes. Using your analytical skills, you will identify patterns, trends, intelligence gaps and potential breaches of regulatory requirements, transforming complex information into clear, evidence-based insights that can withstand scrutiny. The role also requires you to promote and develop the Intelligence Unit's capabilities, working collaboratively with colleagues to support investigations, share good practice and contribute to training and development activities.

You will be responsible for handling sensitive information in accordance with the NIM, GDPR, Government Security Classification Policy and SRA policies, ensuring the highest standards of information management, integrity and confidentiality. What we are looking for:

• A relevant degree or equivalent formal analysis training (e.g. IPP, NIAT, GIAT, DIAM, Intelligence Analyst (level 4) Apprenticeship) qualification and/or have recent experience within an intelligence analyst role.
• Ability to produce reasoned, defensible analysis that can be relied upon to determine regulatory action and senior-level decision making.
• Experience of using i2 Analyst's Notebook and other analytical tools.
• Experience of using structured analytical techniques.
• Extensive knowledge of using Excel.
• Experience of utilising OSINT research techniques to contribute to analytical products.
• Good report writing skills with the ability to understand and summarise complex issues and provide accurate and succinct summaries for briefings.
• Experience of applying and interpreting legislation, policy and criteria in decision making.
• Ability to provide coaching and guidance in a positive manner.
• Resilient and able to adapt quickly in an unpredictable and fast-paced environment.

This role requires successful Security Check (SC) clearance. Applicants must either already hold SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo the vetting process.

We are recruiting for this role working on a hybrid basis from our Birmingham, Cardiff, and London offices. You will be based in the office nearest to your location, with the expectation of working 1-2 days a week in the office and the remainder of the week from home. Occasional travel for meetings and conferences may be required, with advance notice provided. This is a full-time role working 35 hours per week. Working hours are normally Monday to Friday and will be scheduled between our core business hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm.

The starting salary for this role is £43,982 for Birmingham and Cardiff and £48,380 for London. Closing date for applications is Monday 24 August 2026 at 23:55.
